Why do we make home visitations?
To Extend An Invitation to Join Us At Mass
When individuals have been away from the Church for whatever reasons, there is a division established. To bridge the divide, an invitation is extended to attend Mass and share in the Eucharist and to rejoin our faith community. Our pastor, Fr. Martin Dobrzynski, sends a letter of welcome to inactive parishioners. These letters are followed-up with home visitations. Parishioners are given the option to decline home visitation.
We want families to become an active part of our parish family. We let our fellow sisters and brothers know that we have noticed they are no longer sharing in our faith community. We miss them, therefore, we actively seek their return.
To Offer Direction for Faith Formation and Sacramental Preparation
If we nurture our faith, it will grow. Oftentimes families are unaware of the faith formation opportunities offered at St. Michael the Archangel Church. Evangelization team members bring information about St. Michael the Archangel school, faith formation programs, RCIA, and faith sharing groups.
To Listen To Parishioners Stories
We do care about what has happened to our brothers and sisters. In listening to parishioner’s stories, we are extending the love and compassion of Jesus to our neighbors. It is from discerning one’s needs that evangelization team members are able to help inactive parishioners rebuild a relationship with our faith community.
To Reintroduce Church Ministries
Being part of a faith community takes on significant meaning when we are actively involved. Many visited parishioners express an interest to become more involved in church ministry as a way to foster parish involvement. St. Michael the Archangel Church is a vibrant faith community with a multitude of ministries. During home visitations, our Stewardship Booklet is shared with families.
To Provide Direction With Marriage Issues
People often have unresolved marriage issues. Evangelization team members are able to provide direction by acting as a liaison with our priests to assist in this area.
