Safety Issues

The Diocese of Gary requires the following for any of its employees, agents or volunteers who are ministering or working with minors to abide by the following:

1. A criminal background check is conducted on said employees, agents, or volunteers.

2. Each person must read and then sign off on the following documents:

• Sexual Misconduct Toward Minors and Others at Risk (Policy of the Diocese of Gary)
• Practical Guidelines for a Safe Environment For Our Youth
• Safe Environment Plan (Policy of the Diocese of Gary) in conjunction with the Sexual Misconduct Toward Minors and Others at Risk

3. Attend a 3-4 hour workshop on "Protecting God's Children" and the additional online training that is a required part of this program.
